What’s the Difference & Which is Best for You?
Are you getting ready to buy or sell a home? Hiring a professional partner to help with this important transaction should be at the top of your to do list. This in itself is not the easiest decision, especially if you don’t know much about realty. You’ll notice during your search that many professionals call themselves Real Estate Agents or Realtors. Now for the burning question – what is the difference between a Realtor and Real Estate Agent; and which is the best partner for you?
REALTOR®
Real Estate Agents that are a member of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) wear the title of Realtor. Realtors must adhere to the strict code of ethics set by NAR; which ensures Realtors put the best interests of their clients first. It also requires all Realtors to treat each other respectfully.
Real Estate Agent
Real Estate Agents have completed the required courses and exams to a real estate license. They must also renew their license every few years.
Look at reviews and ask for referrals as necessary if you choose to work with a Real Estate Agent; to ensure you get the best treatment and results. Working with a Realtor is a smart choice if you don’t want to chance an unfortunate experience. A Realtor’s first priority is their client’s best interests; and you can trust the NAR’s stamp of approval.
